Membership in the National Society for the Gifted & Talented™
(NSGT) is open to high ability learners who seek exciting learning opportunities,
search for challenging ways to develop talents, and hope to interact with
creative and talented peers like themselves.

Members of the National Society for the Gifted & Talented™

- Membership certificate affirming the student as being among the most
highly able students in the country.
- Receive information on programs and services available to gifted and
talented students.
- Discounts on publications, games and products from the best known authors and producers of educational products for gifted students.
- Free access to the AIFS Educational Planning portal developed by Thomson
Peterson's with information on financing education, school searches
and free practice standardized tests. ($50 value)
- Opportunity to meet and network with area parents of gifted children.
- Be eligible to apply for scholarships to summer, weekend, and distance learning offerings
at the NSGT's affiliate programs.
- Have access to resources and information on gifted education through
the NSGT website, which includes information on conferences, G&T
organizations and online links for parents and students.
- With parental approval, be connected with recognized providers of
programs for the gifted and talented.
Eligibility Requirements
Membership in the National Society for the Gifted & Talented™
is open to high ability learners who seek exciting learning opportunities,
search for challenging ways to develop talents, and hope to interact with
creative and talented peers like themselves.
NSGT invites parents to sponsor their children who are in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students are eligible for membership if they meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Identification as gifted or successful participation in a local, school, regional, state, or national gifted program.
- Scores at the 95th percentile or above in at least one major content area or ability section on a nationally-normed standardized test, or scores at the highest performance level on a standardized state test. Click here for a list of accepted national and state tests.
- Scores in the gifted range on the PSAT, SAT, ACT or SSATB.
- Submits two letters of recommendation - one letter from an educator familiar with the student's academic and performance record, and one letter from a parent describing the child's talents and abilities.
Membership Fees
Students may apply for membership at any time. Parents may sponsor their child for an annual fee of $45.
- There will be a $10 fee reduction for each additional child in the
same family.
- There are also a limited number of sponsored memberships available for children receiving free or reduced
lunch at their school. Please contact NSGT for details.
