The Board of Trustees Scholarship is a prestigious award given each year to outstanding students who demonstrate excelled ability in their field of interest. Previous student applications included requests to attend gifted summer, online, and weekend programs.
These funds may be used to help pay tuition for any gifted, leadership, or foreign language and cultural programs as long as such programs further the goals of gifted education, including the use of complex content and higher order thinking skills, coupled with independent, authentic products,. Individual projects such as scientific and research studies are eligible for scholarships and must contain a budget for equipment, supplies, with oversight from an educator or organization. Only future program participation will be considered and must commence by August 31, 2012. All scholarship money will be given directly to the program, organization or academic advisor.
Students need to download and complete the application, or request an application at info@nsgt.org.
In addition, students need to submit a detailed description (up to two pages) of why they believe they should receive the scholarship. This description should include:
- The purpose of the program or project
- A description of the program or project
- The expected outcome
- How the program or project will be evaluated
- What resources will be used – books, travel costs, mentors etc..
- Previous awards received
- A budget – Tuition, class materials, travel expenses
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher or administrator
- Brochure of the program or project where applicable.
A team of educators in the field of gifted education will review the applications and choose the scholarship winners.
Applications must be received by April 1, 2012. Winners will be notified by April 15, 2012. Please see the scholarship application form for details.
